Snail and grass

Today only two photos: a very small snail that took off after the rain and some grass.

Zuiko 70-300mm and Raynox DCR-250

Some technical information about using Zuiko 70-300mm with Raynox DCR-250. Skip if you want only photos. :)

All tests on manual focus. Smallest focus distance: 110-130 mm from the Raynox. Should suffice. Largest object that could be photographed: 30 mm. Magnifications and maximum object sizes:

1. Focus at infinity
focal lenghtframe widthmagnification
70mm30 mm0,57x
100mm20 mm0,8x
150mm15 mm1,1x
200mm10 mm1,7x
300mm7 mm2,4x

2. Closest focus
focal lenghtframe widthmagnification
70mm20 mm0,8x
100mm15 mm1,1x
150mm10 mm1,7x
200mm7 mm2,4x
300mm5 mm3,4x

DOF at 200-300 is very, very, very small even at f22.

One of the first acceptable photos I took with it (ISO400, cropped):

Meadow and dandelions

Today the weather was great, so I took some photos in my neighborhood.

Meadow. It's converted from ORF (Olympus RAW file) in Raw Therapee.

A church very, very far away. Zuiko 30-700mm lens are quite handy. You could see the waving of the air - it's VERY hot today.

Dandelions almost in sepia...

First test with new camera

Harnet eye, flower and cross-spider. First photos I took with Olympus E-520. The DOF (depth of field) is much smaller than on my old Fuji, so I need to close the aperture and it's harder to light the insect properly. So those are only test. All photos were taken with ZD 30-700mm and Raynox DCR-250.

Darkness is coming

Yesterday I took some photos during a thunderstorm. 100 photos and only two thunders. But it was worth a try.

New wave of Insects

There was a lot of good weather several days ago, so I took my camera on a little trip into the... grass. Some of the insects I found are below.
Right know I consider buying Olympus E-520 but am still not sure. DSLR and the glass for it costs much and sometimes I think Fuji s6500fd (known also as s6000fd) and Raynox DCR-250 is enough for me. But... you know. Sometimes I have to fight the noise with Neat Image (by the way - it works just fine on Linux) or Greycstoration (GIMP plugin) even at ISO 100 and it's time consuming. With E-520 the quality of the photos would - I bet - greately improve.
Well, but - here are the photos.

Red on green

Ant on top

Very small bee, don't know the species

Wasp 1

Wasp 2

Strange green bug

Small moth during sleep

Spider: Going down

Spider: Looking at you

And a flower at the end:

Awaiting comments. ;)

Bumblebee, ant and their friends

Well, the temperature is rising and there is more and more insects on the loose. Below are some of the first bug pictures I took this year.
